CORE PROGRAM

CCDA's Core program provides professional quality instruction for both recreation and higher educational dance.

We offer a variety of disciplines:

Ballet - Ballet is an artistic dance like no other, that can be used to express different emotions or to tell a story. Traditional classical ballet dance which was choreographed with elaborate costumes and staging has been replaced by the modern ballet dance styles which creates room for a variety of ballet dance forms. Some forms of ballet dance include classical ballet, contemporary ballet, neoclassical ballet and post-structural ballet dance.

  • Syllabus - builds technical foundation

  • Intro to Pointe - Training students for pointe

  • Pointe - Pointe technique is the part of classical ballet technique that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet within pointe shoes.

Jazz - Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jazz also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms.

Tap - Tap dance is a type of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion.

Lyrical - Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques. Lyrical dance challenges choreographers and dancers to use motion to interpret music and express emotion. A lyrical dancer's movements attempt to show the meaning of the music. Lyrical is a very passionate and emotional dance style. It portrays certain emotions, and tells a story through every movement made.

Hip Hop - Hip Hop refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles.

Acro - Acro is a style of dance that combines classical techniques with acrobatic elements. While all dance is physical, this form is particularly athletic and has unique choreography due to its use of acrobatics in a dance environment.

Mini Acro - This class is an introduction to Acro for ages 4.5-6 that will focus on the foundational elements of Acro such as strengthening, technique, Acro positions, and level-based Acro movements. This class will also include some ballet based movements to further strengthening and technique which are both important elements to Acro.

Street Jazz - Street Jazz borrows a lot of movement from other dance styles. From ballet-modern-hip hop- to lyrical, jazz funk incorporates little bits and pieces of other dance genres and wraps into a funky style that is both fun and expressive.

Musical Theatre - Musical Theatre is the combination of music (singing), acting and dancing and performers in this genre are commonly referred to as 'triple threats'. It is rooted in the diverse history of Broadway musicals.

All class lengths are typically one hour.

For the younger ages, we offer Combo Classes geared towards building self confidence in addition to nurturing a love for dance. Our combo classes offer students a chance to experience two different styles of dance.

 -Ages 3-6 Combo Tap/Ballet 60 Minute Class

Our Single-Discipline Classes provide in-depth instruction to the chosen style of dance focusing on technique and application.
